The miraculous St Colmoc

The priory of Inchmahome, the island in the middle of the Lake of Menteith, was dedicated to St Colmoc, who though born in Ireland, was said to be of Scottish blood. He was at one time Bishop of Dromore.

His miraculous powers appeared to have been of the highest order. Not only did he bring back to life the dead child of a queen, but he also resuscitated a young woman who had been devoured by a sea monster and a calf that had been eaten by a wolf.

He was also very good with water, having the ability to turn the course of running streams and was said to be able to walk over the surface.

It is claimed that he died and was buried at Inchmahome.
